**THE ROLE & THE TEAM**
- Zalando Lounge is the fastest growing sales channel of Zalando. In 2021 we grew by ca. 49%, breaching more than one billion EUR in yearly revenue for the first time. That's 14% of total Zalando Group revenue.
- At the core of our high-growth strategy is algorithmic pricing. Zalando Lounge's main premise is to offer exclusive bargain deals with limited availability to fashion conscious customers. As such, our business presents a number of unique challenges and opportunities for our pricing algorithms.
- We are looking for a senior applied scientist with a passion for Machine Learning or forecasting who can help us revolutionize algorithmic pricing at Lounge. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of economists, scientists, engineers, and product leaders, you will have the unique opportunity to shape a young and growing team with direct and visible impact on the customer.**INCLUSIVE BY DESIGN**
**WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)**
- Conceptualise, prototype, and productions state-of-the-art algorithmic solutions for pricing optimization. You enjoy finding solutions to new complex problems and don't mind getting your hands dirty (with pen and paper or in your IDE of choice).
- Translate business requirements and commercial objectives into model parameters/constraints
- Communicate technical problems and results effectively with other team members and also with (less technical) stakeholders.
- Drive and prioritise project work based on business and technical considerations. Mentor fellow team members and help them solve technical challenges.

**WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU **IF**
- 3+ years of applicable experience. Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Physics, or similar.
- Sound theoretical knowledge about machine learning and mathematics. Familiarity with operations research topics such as nonlinear optimisation.
- Extensive experience with Python and its associated data science libraries, including writing production quality code (not just notebooks). Familiarity with optimization software such as Gurobi a plus.

Affinity for research tasks, and good attitude towards uncertainty in projects
Entrepreneurial and commercially minded attitude. You're passionate about building pragmatic, scalable solutions that deliver business results.
