**Duties**:

- Analyze selected medication for accuracy, incompatibilities, contraindications, and appropriate doses.
- Develop individual dosing regimens based upon pharmacokinetics of drugs employed, disease states and medication history of the patient.
- Assist medical staff in designing, coordinating and accomplishing an effective medication utilization evaluation (MUE) program to promote and sustain optimal therapeutic effectiveness and reduce waste.
- Support and provide routine and complex drug information to patients, physicians, and other staff through literature analysis and research.
- Provide drug education to patients on correct use of medications, potential side effects and unique medication packaging through verbal and written means.
- Perform tasks related to clinical service, e.g., preparing discharge medications, bedside medication, medication labeling, and adjusting specific intravenous drug preparations.
- When required, perform medication distribution functions to include filling, checking, counseling, and dispensing of outpatient prescriptions, preparation of intravenous admixture and filling, checking and dispensing of unit dose medications.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
- This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
- All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is identified as Mission Essential which may require you to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations (e.g., threat to the facility, natural disaster, delayed reporting).

**Basic Requirement for Pharmacist**:
**Education**:A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

**Exemption**:You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

**Licensure**:A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

**Specialized Experience**: One year of specialized experience which includes: developing individualized medication regimens ensuring proper pharmaceutical doses are maintained; coordinating clinical Pharmacy services that includes complex problems of a highly specialized nature; and communicating with patients to counsel them regarding their prescribed medication. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
