Military Pay Technician

**Duties**:
- Perform comprehensive review and determine eligibility of military pay documentation for service members to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
- Prepare, consolidate and audit a variety of military payment documentation (e.g., allotment, vouchers, leave, pay option, TSP forms, etc...) and electronically process through a variety automated system.
- Receive and resolve problem cases involving over payment or under payment of members for prior periods of service.
- Utilize travel and financial management automated system to track and prepare government travel vouchers for payment.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires Financial Management Level 1 certification within 24 months of appointment.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 10% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular and official U.S. Passport.

**Specialized Experience, GS06**: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Reviewing pay actions for technical accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures; AND 2) Processing a wide variety of military pay actions such as routine, special or unique actions, debts or separation payments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
**Specialized Experience, GS07**: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Reviewing pay actions for technical accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures; 2) Processing a wide variety of military pay actions such as routine, special or unique actions, debts or separation payments AND 3.) Processing a wide variety of pay debt audits and verifying documentation for completeness and accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Applicants who are current Federal employees or who are eligible for Reinstatement may be able to qualify with experience equivalent to the second lower grade (GS-05).
**In-Service Applicants** (i.e. current or former competitive service employee through promotion, reassignment, change to lower grade, transfer, reinstatement, reemployment, or restoration). **Specialized Experience, GS07**: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Reviewing pay actions for technical accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures; 2) Processing a wide variety of military pay actions such as routine, special or unique actions, debts or separation payments AND 3.) **In-Service Applicants -**Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
**Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06**: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
**Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07**: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
**Education**:
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
