**PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Together with a highly motivated HR Team, the Head of HR is responsible for:

- all aspects of operational HR management, planning and development
- delivering a high quality service to employees and line managers on all HR-related aspects
- providing guidance to the Senior Management Team and the Executive Director, and recommending pragmatic solutions in line with best practices
- providing senior support to Fairtrade International’s People Committee, a sub-committee of the Fairtrade International Board
- leading the work with Fairtrade International’s Works Council for a trustful collaboration
- Implement processes for the measurement and management of performance and management succession planning so as to ensure that employees are appropriately developed and rewarded
- ensuring a safe and healthy work environment and a trustful & collaborative work place culture
- on an ongoing basis maintaining a skills matrix of the organisation’s workforce, and developing and implementing a succession planning system
- leading the day-to-day work of the HR team. Ensuring that resources are focused on key objectives and projects are delivered on time and within budget
- serving as a supportive point of contact, offering guidance and ensuring employees feel comfortable and supported during a grievance resolution process

**SKILLS REQUIRED**:

- Profound, hands-on knowledge in the full range of the daily HR business
- Direct experience of organizational transformation
- Good knowledge of current employment legislation, the Works Constitution Act and HR practices
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Collaborative and supportive approach to human resource management
- Fluency in German and English essential with experience working in English. Knowledge of Spanish is an asset.

Experience and Education:

- A University degree in a relevant area (Human Resources, Labour Law etc.)
- A minimum of 12 years’ experience in human resource management and in managing a team of HR professionals
- Experience of working in an international organization in Europe, including recruiting and employing people internationally

**TERMS AND CONDITIONS**:

- This is a full-time position (38.5 hours) within Fairtrade International. An initial two-year contract is offered.
- Location is at Fairtrade International offices in Bonn with the option of mobile working in Germany according to Fairtrade International's regulations.
- The office language is English.
