**The team you'll be part of**

The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia’s Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.

As part of the Network Infrastructure organization, the Optical Networking group develops systems for high-speed optical transmission over fibers. These systems are leading in the market providing customers with highest end optical interfaces (currently 500Gbit/s), total system capacity (currently 24Tbit/s), as well as cutting edge system density and energy consumption. These embedded systems are designed as multi-processor cluster equipped with latest state of the art multi-core CPUs, embedded SoCs, and other components.

As part of our team, you will be engaged in development tasks that are highly demanding in technical and soft skills. We develop our products in a culture of autonomy and individual responsibility as part of an international organization, so that you contribute to:

- a development team as technical expert/team lead
- design and documentation of SW components for innovative optical system cards based on multi-core systems on chip
- development of user space & kernel drivers for unique and specialized transmission system devices
- testing component functionality against system
- and device/-specifications and standards of ITU/IETF
- integrating components into the overall system
- maintaining SW components for multiple releases
- support system integration and validation
- support test and customer facing teams with technical expertise and problem analysis

**Your skills and experience**

As applicant you should be in possession of a master degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent.

You have:

- expert knowledge in C/C++ SW design and debugging
- expert knowledge in Unix/Linux and real-time OS based SW development, e.g. kernel drivers, Linux customization, etc.
- a style of working that is structured, analytical, and independent, with an attitude to develop high quality artifacts

It would be nice if you also had:

- knowledge in telecommunication technologies for fiber based transmission
- team oriented and cooperative attitude
- high motivation and flexibility
- first team leadership experience
- fluency in written and spoken English
