Technical Director, Major Projects

**The role**

We are in the market to find a Technical Director, Bridges, who is capable of bringing the best of their decades of experience into our organisation for the leadership of major projects as a Bridges Technical Director. The role will be to work with Engineers, Owners and Contractors in the consulting and engineering space for both Client side and Design and Build/Alliance projects.

The title of Technical/ Project Director is a position within Ramboll anchored in the Transport market within the Spearhead - Major Projects. You will be asked for your experience, passion, perspective, energy, enthusiasm and connections to help us in our evolution journey.

As our Major Projects - Director you will be given a broad mandate to support existing and future engineering and design major projects, key Transport initiatives and include in your workload the development of future opportunities and the wider German bridges market.

You will be part of the Major Projects Spearhead with teams in Finland, Denmark and the UK delivering some of the most complex bridge projects on the market. Within Ramboll you will work closely with over 400 bridge design colleagues in other departments and geographies. Ramboll’s bridge teams work collectively on the large projects bringing the best of international and local designers together to execute successful projects.

The role is to be based in either Hamburg or Berlin. Short term international travel is to be expected as is reasonable with a senior position of this nature.

**Your key responsibilities will be**:

- Technical Expertise for large and complex bridge structures
- Working with top management and corporate stakeholders for the development of the German market
- Complex bridge design management, oversight and mentoring
- Project Pipeline and Orderbook growth
- Commercial and Technical management of key projects
- To inspire, motivate and engage with our employees, partners and customers through inclusive technical leadership, and with natural drive and curiosity
- Collaborating with leaders across the company to support strong collaboration and ensure resource allocation for the benefit of our employees and clients' projects
- Active participation in innovation, automation and digitalization within our existing and future service areas
- Strong demonstratable experience with roles held in senior positions for engineering and design on major infrastructure and transport projects in the German market.
- Has civil infrastructure experience in Germany with a focus on large and complex bridges, rail projects and major road schemes being of interest
- Experience in bridge assessment management, rehabilitation and demolition also viewed positively
- Very good communication skills in written and spoken English and German
- M.Sc. in Structural or Civil Engineering
