- Planck-Institut für chemische Ökologie in Jena erforscht, wie Organismen über chemische Signale miteinander kommunizieren. Wir analysieren ökologische Interaktionen mit molekularen, chemischen und neurobiologischen Methoden. Im Institut arbeiten organische Chemiker, Biochemiker, Ökologen, Entomologen, Verhaltensforscher, Insektengenetiker und Physiologen zusammen, um die Komplexität der chemischen Kommunikation in der Natur zu entschlüsseln.

Director (M/F/d)
The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology invites expressions of interest from outstanding scientists for the position of Director. A Max Planck Director pursues a bold long-term research agenda in his or her own Department, and leads the Institute jointly with fellow Directors. Applicants should have achieved internationally recognized distinction in chemical ecology, i.e. the study of ecological interactions mediated by chemical signals among all forms of life. Research should have a strong focus on chemical ecology in a broad sense and complement the wide-ranging interests of the Institute, which include interactions among plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi, with an emphasis on terrestrial ecosystems; encompassing symbiosis, competition, herbivory, predation, and pathogenesis; using chemical, biochemical, genetic, physiological, behavioral, ecological and evolutionary approaches. The main criteria for a directorship are scientific and scholarly excellence and an innovative and ambitious research program, rather than seniority or publication rankings.
