Working Student / Bachelor Thesis - Hardware Team - Equipment Engineering (M/F/d)

Position Summary

The Working Student will work within the Cardiopulmonary Business (CPB) Unit, supporting the Hardware (HW) Team in the development of Heart-Lung Machines. This role involves a wide range of tasks during the design and verification phases, providing the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and potentially develop a project thesis based on project needs. The working student will primarily assist the team with Electrical Engineering tasks, including cable manufacturing and test setup development.

General Responsibilities
- Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and study state-of-the-art technologies relevant to medical product development to inform project decisions
- Electrical Documentation: Create and maintain electrical drawings, including circuit schematics and cable drawings, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation
- Cabling and Interconnects: Document and maintain cabling and interconnect schemes and drawings, ensuring proper configuration and connectivity
- PCB Library Management: Support the management of PCB libraries, ensuring accurate and organized component data
- Engineering Test Support: Assist in the execution of engineering tests, collaborating with HW Engineers to ensure accurate and reliable results
- Prototype Development: Support the development of prototypes, including preparing cable assemblies and performing parts soldering

Skills and Experience
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Bio medical instrumentation or similar from an accredited college
- Familiarity with ECAD tools such as Mentor PADS or Altium
- Equipment troubleshooting and repair
- Proactive and eager to learn
- Interpretation of electronic systems schematics
- Electrical circuit design
- Electrical cable design
- Use of MS Office tools: Word, Power Point, Excel
- Experience with laboratory equipment
- Operation and use of standard test and measuring instruments
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good command of the English language; knowledge of German is appreciated
