**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Support in-house development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) pipeline
- Evaluating existing mapping algorithms and downstream analysis tools
- Analyse IT requirements for running the pipeline in-house and a cloud environment (e.g., Google Cloud, Azure)
- Setting up pipeline according to defined requirements
- Create proper documentation to describe the set-up process and maintenance
- ** What you will learn from us**:
- Work with advanced bioinformatics tools and pipelines
- Gain practical experience in deploying and managing pipelines on both local servers and cloud platforms
- Understanding version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Learn about containerization and workflow management systems
- Develop skills in high-performance computing and data analysis
- Familiarize yourself with nf-core pipelines (RNAseq, Sarek, scRNAseq) and workflow management systems (e.g., Nextflow)
**Your profile**:
- Studies in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, or a related field
- Understanding of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data and bioinformatics workflows
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Bash, Python or R and well as familiar with Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools
- Understanding of high-performance computing (HPC) environments
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Good English skills, German is an advantage
- As a working student (f/m/d), you are available for up to 20 hours per week, whereby you can flexibly adjust your working hours to your schedule - starting immediately
