Research Scientist

Join a team of researchers at Intel Labs in Europe responsible for developing next generation edge and wireless networking solutions.

The role will include the exploration and development of technologies to support orchestration, that cut across monitoring and observability, workload profiling, modelling and analytics targeting various usage models, from performance optimizations to energy optimizations, etc. This researcher should have an interest in computing, including deployment, testing, integration, and validation of edge and cloud computing stacks. Responsibilities will include design and development of extensions to cloud stacks, instrumentation and monitoring as well as analytics framework, with particular emphasis towards awareness of underlying hardware features across Compute/Memory/Network. The researcher will work in close collaboration with leading EU academic and industry partners as part of EU-wide research projects. Research background on wireless communications and networking, and system-level performance evaluation is required. Hands on SW prototyping using Linux environment, and systems simulation is required. Experience in working across multiple teams and customers in complex collaborative projects is highly desired.

- Preferably PhD in EE/CS (Master would be also fine though)
- Systems and scripting programming languages (e.g. Go, Python, bash)
- Virtualization and containerization (e.g. Kubernetes, Containers, Services meshes like Istio, Linkerd)
- Operating systems knowledge (Linux, Unix)
- Software engineering skills (e.g. test driven development, Agile methodologies, build and integration automation)
- Skills in bringing theoretical ideas to proof of concept and implementations

**It would be an advantage if you had interest/knowledge and would like to develop your skills in**:

- Cloud Environments in particular Kubernetes, and its constituent modules.
- Data Science and Machine Learning
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking or Network Function Virtualisation

This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
