To achieve the Paris climate targets, a transport transition and extensive decarbonisation of transport by 2050 is necessary. As part of the GIZ’s Infrastructure and Mobility cluster, the Transport and Climate Change team aims to enable the rapid development of zero emission transport systems to shape a liveable and just future by providing advisory services, knowledge exchange, peer learning, data-driven insights to partners in countries of the Global South. Most projects are funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and are implemented on the African Continent, in Latin America and in Asia. - Your tasks During the internship, you will perform the following tasks: - Assisting project teams in research, analysis and technical evaluations, primarily in the areas of transport and climate, urban mobility, digitalisation and open data as well as vehicle efficiency standards - Supporting the external and internal communication of the "Changing Transport" brand by creating and maintaining content for the website changing-transport.org, the social media channels and newsletters - Supporting the planning and implementation of online events in the areas of communication, programme design, and participant management - Conception and implementation of online campaigns - Providing input and support for specialist consulting services on international climate and transport policy issues - Supporting the project team with administrative tasks - Your profile - Completed or ongoing studies (undergraduate or bachelor's degree preferred) in the field of transport science (transport planning, transport engineering, transport geography), economics, environmental/climate science, communication, media, political science/international relations (focus on climate policy), geography, urban/spatial planning, or a related field - You also have an interest in development policy and a basic understanding of the challenges in the transport sector in emerging and developing countries, and/or knowledge of international climate policy and approaches to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector - You have a high degree of digital affinity and enjoy working with websites and social media - You have great organisational and time-management skills and enjoy being part of the preparation and implementation of online events with a hands-on mentality - You have a very good command of written and spoken English and one additional language (German, Spanish and/ or French would be an advantage); you have a very good sense of language and are adept at writing and editing texts - You are analytical and structured in your approach to new tasks and challenges - You are no stranger to working with data and handling extensive Excel spreadsheets - You are experienced in using Office programmes (especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel); knowledge of design programmes such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is an advantage - You enjoy working in an international and multidisciplinary team and have a good sense of for intercultural and target-group oriented communication - Notes GIZ is a signatory of the Diversity Charter.
