The position corresponds to a pay grade of EG 13 TV-L.
**Unser Profil**:
The Chair of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology at RWTH Aachen University conducts research with 2 professorships and approx.30 employees in the fields of rock mechanics, tunneling and groundwater protection. Besides the basic equipment, the chair is financed by numerous national and international third-party funded projects. The chair is involved in the study programs applied geosciences and georesource management.
We are a group of dynamic and international scientists with interests in all aspects of experimental and computational geomechanics, with a strong focus on applied topics.

**Ihr Profil**:
- Master degree (or comparable) in the project-related discipline (e.g., applied geosciences, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering)
- Good knowledge of rock mechanics and hydrogeology
- Willing to carry out frequent field work in Bedretto URL in Switzerland
- Reliable, ambitious, and able to work both independently and with a team
- Excellent written and communication skills in English
- Ability to quickly develop related research skills and knowledge
**Ihre Aufgaben**:
- Carrying out frequent field work at the Bedretto Tunnel to conduct fault slip experiments
- Design and conduct various hydro-mechanical characterization tests
- Analysis and interpretation of the hydro-mechanical data obtained from various monitoring sources (pressure, temperature, stress and strain) to better understand the fault slip experiments
- Assist and carry out hydro-mechanical laboratory testing on the cores obtained from Bedretto
- Collaborate with project partners on experimental design and data analysis
- Present research findings at conferences and in scientific journals
