Project Engineering Director

**Job Description Summary**: GE HVDC is moving towards a digitally integrated way of working, centralized around data and technology that connects a variety of systems and stakeholders, with the perspective that all work products (models, designs, documents, diagrams, drawings, etc.) generated during the performance of any HVDC system life cycle activities are represented by underlying sets of data and information.

Data and information in these sets need to be accessible and shared between organization's and project management and engineering management tools used within the business organization and its customers and suppliers. This sharing will help to ensure consistency, correctness, and completeness of work products developed across all HVDC system life cycle stages and support standardization and interoperability.

Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Serves as the technical manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitor engineering activities for customer projects, in our case for the OFF-Shore and/or ON-Shore scope. Provide technical leadership and interface with Consortium Partner, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors
- Coordination of the overall technical aspect of the allocated scope
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field

**Required Qualifications**
- This role requires significant experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Project Engineering in turnkey and large projects
- Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience) in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge expected on
- HVDC or at least HV substations -primary and secondary (mandatory)
- OFF-Shore (desirable)
- Steelworks/Yard (desirable)
- Coordination/Interface Management (mandatory)
- Successful experience in a matrix and international environment
