10+ years with a keen working understanding of regional and local government environment in Germany. That experienced has been gained in Government, industry, trade association or consultancy, political organizations or think tanks, preferably in the Internet/Tech environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a relevant discipline (Law, Political Science, Corporate Communication, etc.). An advanced degree in Public Policy is preferred.
- Written and spoken fluency of German and English - Demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at highest corporate, regional and local government levels.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a talented, innovative, and well-connected individual to represent the cloud computing business of Amazon, Earth’s most customer-centric company, before regional and local policymakers, IT decision makers, and senior government executives in Germany.

This senior position will report to the Head of AWS DACH Public Policy and can be based in either Berlin, Frankfurt or Munich.

Key job responsibilities

**In this role, you will**:

- Be part of a dedicated and talented team of people bringing the benefits of cloud computing across Germany and its many communities.
- Engage with AWS business leaders within and outside Germany to develop and execute effective government affairs advocacy strategies to protect and advance our customer’s interest before regional, local governments, and municipalities - with a specific focus on Hessen, Baden-Württemberg and Bayern.
- Collaborate with AWS Global Infrastructure and Economic Development teams to create a policy environment that allows a sustainable expansion of AWS data centers infrastructure in Germany.
- Represent AWS positions directly and through industry associations/coalitions to regional and local governments to enable an unrestricted, transparent and technology friendly regulatory environment.
- Assess and communicate potential regulatory threats and government sector market segment (revenue) opportunities and threats, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and policy positions, and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives in concert with AWS business objectives.

Determine, maintain and staff appropriate corporate membership opportunities in industry associations/coalitions on behalf of AWS, and ensure appropriate utilization of high judgment, high integrity outside consultants.

A day in the life
You will lead external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, partnerships, and initiatives in support of these objectives. You will coordinate AWS engagement with relevant industry associations and wider coalitions, as well as think tanks and policy-making organization; and manage consultancy support.

- Experience in the technology industry before regional and local policymakers.
- Experience in advocacy and public policy development pertaining to information technology (IT) and telecommunications, such as cloud computing, IT governance, data security, energy efficiency, environmental sustainability, local permitting, and public procurement.
- An advanced degree in Law, Economics or Engineering.
- Self-starter with proven record of accomplishment of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
- History of working both independently and as part of a broader team with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Demonstrated examples of good judgment and thoughtful decision-making, and political acumen.
- Eagerness to travel across Germany and internationally as required by business imperatives.
