At Evotec’s site in Göttingen, Germany, the Metabolic Diseases team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated

Main responsibilities:
As a Research Assistant in Human Sample Management Göttingen you will:
- Isolate RNA and DNA from human samples (blood, tissue) in high throughput using laboratory automation/automated liquid handlers
- Prepare libraries for RNA-Seq using a dedicated automated liquid handler
- Control the quality of nucleic acids and libraries using spectrophotometric, fluorometric and electrophoretic methods
- Support the development of new methods and workflows for nucleic acid isolation and transcriptomics/library preparation
- Help maintain a human biobank storing primary samples (tissue, blood, plasma, serum, urine), RNA and DNA from thousands of patients in different disease areas (e.g. metabolic, kidney, immune & inflammatory disease). Tasks include inventorying, processing and shipping of clinical samples.
- Submit samples to downstream omics analyses, playing an important role in expanding the Evotec Molecular Patient database (E.MPD)
- Work closely with different internal teams and external partners e.g. biobanks, hospitals providing samples)
- Perform experiments independently - from planning to analysis and documentation
- Support the Expression Profiling team occasionally with RNA isolation, reverse transcription and qPCR
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed apprenticeship (BTA/CTA/MTA) or bachelor's studies in the field of Natural Sciences, preferably in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related field with hands-on experience in an academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment or alternatively, a master’s degree in a relevant discipline with proven experimental expertise
- Experience in performing molecular biology methods (RNA and DNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, agarose gel electrophoresis, etc.)
- Knowledge in the use of laboratory information systems (LIMS), sample management software or liquid handling systems/robots is an advantage
- Previous experience in transcriptomics/RNA-Seq is an advantage
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team setting and ability to adapt daily work to the project goals
- Reliable and motivated way of working
- Good English skills are an advantage
