At Foodji, we are an innovative foodtech startup backed by venture capital, focused on providing fresh and healthy meals to a wide range of individuals. We strive to balance nutrition, availability, and sustainability, with the goal of giving over 10 million workers access to healthy food while minimizing food waste.

Shortly after our Series A funding of 23 million, we are in a super exciting growth phase and ready to further expand our market leadership.

As our very first **Head of Engineering (all genders)**, you will have a critical role in shaping and executing our engineering strategy, optimizing engineering processes, and driving innovation through agile practices. As a strong leader, you will motivate and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to consistently deliver high-quality software solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, to foster a culture of collaboration and ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget. Additionally, you will play a key role in attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent to support the company's growth objectives.

**Responsibilities**:

- Functional Leader
- Inspire and lead a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support for their career growth.
- Establish and maintain a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence within the engineering team.
- Optimize engineering processes and methodologies to drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Liasion Officer
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages open communication.
- Leading technical meetings and promoting exchanges among developers and cross-functional teams
- Creating interfaces for technical communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strategic-Thinker
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.
- Keep up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, assessing their potential impact on the company's products and services.
- Hands-on Solution-Seeker
- Lead technical projects in collaboration with product management.
- Take part in software development and architecture activities, including review and evolution of software architecture using established design patterns and deployment pipelines
- Conduct data modeling to design efficient software solutions
- Monitor and improve software quality, reliability, security and privacy measures.

**Your profile**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with first experience in a funtional leadership or management role.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience in software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong leadership skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Golang
- In-depth knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), including software architecture, design, and testing.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and improvement within an engineering organization.

**Our Tech-Stack**
Our platform is powered by the AWS Serverless Stack (Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB), MongoDB, Redshift, Rekognition, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions and Docker. These cutting-edge technologies allow us to deploy and scale fast and easily without much of the classic dev ops hassle. Everything is monitored by our custom monitoring system, Pingdom, CloudWatch, constantly analyzing KPIs of our Foodjis.

Our cloud backends as well as the machine software operating on our IoT foodjis in the field are running on GoLang. For predicting future sales and inventory, we utilize state-of-the-art machine learning models in Python, for
