Alexander Daniels Global have been retained to support a rapidly scaling technology start-up that were founded in 2020, having been spun out of the Fraunhofer Institute. A deep tech, B2B, software business, serving industrial customers, they have grown to a team of 50. Following a recent Series A funding round, they are well positioned to grow and are seeking an experienced Chief Commercial Officer to join their leadership team.

The current leadership group is a hugely experienced, highly motivated and extremely passionate team, that is driven by the desire to build a ‘game-changing’ technology solution. They have built an exceptional company culture and engaged team, driving internal processes and customer engagements that set them apart from competitors. With the founding team all coming from Fraunhofer, and all having a strong technical background, there is a need to complement their skills and qualities by hiring an experienced Chief Commercial Officer to support the next phase of their organizational development and growth.

As a managing director, the Chief Commercial Officer will work closely with the CEO and broader leadership team to help develop the right business and commercial strategy. They will manage Sales, Marketing and Customer Success, implementing the right structure to nurture and expand with existing customers, while also growing revenue through new customer acquisition. The Chief Commercial Officer will engage directly with these customers, in particular, building relationships with higher level decision-makers and C-Suite contacts. They will have the experience and ability to structure and close complex, high value deals.

They will help shape the ‘Go-To-Market’ strategy, while working hand-in-hand with Product Management and the CTO organization. With respect to planned product and business model evolution towards a PaaS/SaaS offering, more standardized products based on proven ‘use cases’ and leveraging a more data driven approach are required for the aspired scalability.

The CCO will support to further implement and live both existing and newly specified structures to enable scalable and efficient decision making and customer engagements. They will help to embed clear decision-making frameworks that make it simpler for decisions to be taken and help speed up the general flow of activity inside the organisation, between different stakeholder groups. While appreciating the current culture and strong team spirit that exists, they will not be afraid to make challenging choices, that are not widely accepted and be both confident and decisive with their actions.
