**About the Position/Background**:
Texas Instruments is designing strain sensors to detect and quantify mechanical stress on silicon chips. These sensors will be based on structures and circuitry already being developed at our European headquarters in Freising.

TI’s research department in Freising is looking for an intern (M/F/d) who wants to work on a multidisciplinary topic between **electrical, mechanical and package engineering**. The goal of the internship is to attach a sensor chip onto a substrate, analyze its behavior versus different kind of mechanical stresses, and find an optimized solution by simulating, prototyping, measuring, and characterizing the devices dependent on temperature, strain and other parameters. The outcome will be used to provide guidance for future products. **The project is extendible to account for a Bachelor or Master thesis.**

The work packages include:

- Set up, design, and perform your own experiments
- Simulate those on system level
- Characterizing systematically different devices with DC measurement techniques
- Compare new results with existing data to track improvement and propose final solution

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field (3rd year Bachelor student, or above)
- Basic knowledge of electronic device physics and analog circuits
- Basic knowledge of mechanical physics
- Ideally you are available for an internship duration of at least 4 months starting January 2025

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Dexterity in practical, mechanical handcraft
- Experience in some of the following fields are a plus
- Electrical characterization equipment (Oscilloscope, Multi meter, etc.
- 3D CAD design and FEM simulation, e.g. Ansys
- Programming skills, e.g. embedded microcontroller C++, Python
- Test measurement automation control, e.g. TestStand and Labview
