**Job Description**:

You will be instrumental in developing breakthrough products and technologies in a sector that is set to double in size over the next five years. You will drive innovations and digital solutions at a global market leader that have a direct and positive impact on future generations:
- Responsible for leading a function of approx. 130 people dedicated to future technology development (Core R&D), product development (Technology) and digital software, primarily centralized at our headquarters near Koblenz.
- Defining and contributing to annual strategy development for a rolling 3-5 years’ perspective, as well as inputs to strategic and technical plans.
- Management, definition, initiation of R&D activities including development of the corresponding budget to ensure profitable growth.
- Implementation and tracking of relevant key performance indicators.
- Support of Sales in winning new customer projects and handling of ongoing projects.
- Close coordination and cooperation with other functions (including finance, purchasing, sales, quality, etc.).
- Leading, developing and coaching of employees as well as definition and development of future required competencies.
- Transfer of values, culture and standards within the R&D function and optimization of organization and working environment.
- Ensuring, following and continuously improving HSE policies.
**Qualifications**:
- Masters degree in natural sciences, ideally PhD.
- At least 10-12 years of relevant professional experience in R&D with focus on state of the art knowledge in the field of:
- Sensor technology
- Software development
- AI / Deep learning
- Smart mechanical designs
- Leadership experience in managing R&D teams in a global matrix organisation.
- Fluent German and English language skills
