Information Technology Specialist

**Duties**: - Serves as the technical expert/authority and directs work of subordinate personnel responsible for AFRICOM. - Identifies, distributes workload and tasks among team members in accordance with established work flow. - Interprets policy and procedures, establishes priorities, ensures quality of work, and ensures work is completed pursuant to established schedules and milestones. - Serves as a the direct oversight for the AFRICOM Data Centers. - Serves as the technical expert/authority and advisor for development, implementation, modification, and management of long and short-range IT goals, objectives, policies, and priorities. **Requirements**: **Conditions of Employment**: - Three year trial/probationary period may be required. - This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. - A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigation that includes, - but is not limited to, contact with all references, employers, co-workers, personal associates, and a review of your driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required. - Overtime will be required on short notice. - Shift work may be required on a 24/7 basis and also may be necessary during exercises, crises, or contingencies. - Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts and weekend. - Incumbent may be required to perform 25% TDY to U.S. AFRICOM areas of responsibility. - Must successfully pass urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. - May be required to carry a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) cellular device. - The incumbent may also be on an "on-call" status on a rotational basis - The IT classification for this position is IT I. Position is designated as Special Sensitive. - Incumbent must be able to meet and maintain IT certification standards for IAT Level II as provided in DOD 8570-lM Information Assurance certification standards within six (6) months of hire. - Current DoD Employees: If a current permanent CES employee, you shall be granted administrative return rights. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by recommending changes to the network infrastructure architectures based on standards and policies; assisting in developing and implementing new methods and principles in network infrastructure design; routing and switching within a LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) environment; experienced in troubleshooting LAN or WAN environment; experience with Security infrastructure and policy. - The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: - (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
