The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society. The school offers master’s programmes, executive education and doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research. The Hertie School is seeking to fill the following permanent position as soon as possible:
Director Finance (gn)

in full-time (40 h/week).

Your tasks:

- Disciplinary and technical management of the finance department consisting of controlling, accounting and third-party funding management with currently 11 employees
- Participation in the management of the university according to financial criteria and key figures
- Design and coordination of the annual and intra-year planning processes
- Further development and digitalisation of internal reporting
- Responsibility for compliance with legal non-profit and tax requirements
- Organisation, planning and preparation of annual financial statements according to the German Commercial Code (HGB) in compliance with the requirements for a large corporation
- Contact person for all finance and controlling issues for internal and external stakeholders

Your profile:

- Relevant experience in a management position in finance and experience in leading (digitisation) projects
- Excellent expertise in financial controlling and profound expertise in the preparation of annual financial statements according to the German Commercial Code (HGB)
- Analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate complex data
- Leadership personality and intercultural competence
- Excellent knowledge of German and at least a good command of written and spoken English
- Experience in the field of non-profit organisations and/or third-party funding is an advantage
