The DESY IT group offers comprehensive IT services across all DESY divisions and operates large-scale IT infrastructures for scientific data management and analysis for DESY and European XFEL research.
As part of the EU project 'Research Facilities 2.0' - aiming to enhance the sustainability of large scientific infrastructures - you will work on scientific compute and storage infrastructures, collaborating with internal teams, user communities, and European partners.
- About your role:
- Analyze usage patterns of scientific compute and storage infrastructures
- Propose and implement optimizations to compute cluster scheduling systems
- Define relevant utilization observables and implement their measurement
- Coordinate with experts from DESY's particle physics and photon science experiments, and external partners
- Participate in workshops and conferences related to the project

- About you:
- Hold a degree in computer science, physics, or a related field, or possess comparable knowledge
- Experience with Linux-based computer networks
- Familiarity with modern computer hardware and metrics collection
- Basic understanding of computing clusters and scheduling mechanisms
- Good command of English (spoken and written); basic knowledge of German is a plus
