The Chair of Advanced Transmission Electron Microscopy at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy is looking for a

**Postdoc (f/m/x) “In Situ Transmission Electron Microscopy”, 3 for years, 39.83 hours per week, TVL E13**:
The chair of Advanced Transmission Electron Microscopy develops techniques in the electron microscope to study material phenomena down to the atomic level. The main working areas are atomic resolution microscopy, spectroscopy, 4D-STEM, in situ microscopy and data analysis. We use these methodologies to study interfaces in materials, novel catalysts, emerging magnetic materials and advanced energy materials.

27.09.2024**Your tasks**:

- Establish in situ experiments using heating, biasing, cryogenic temperatures, strain and magnetic fields
- Develop novel data acquisition and analysis schemes
- Deploy machine learning models for data acquisition and automated data analysis
- Implement in situ experiments that can be coupled with other techniques such as 4D-STEM, STEM-EDS or -EELS to study phase transformations in materials
- Write competitive proposals to attract third party funding
- Gain experience in group leadership

**Your profile**:

- A PhD degree in materials science or physics
- Strong hands-on experience in aberration-corrected S/TEM, spectroscopy and in situ microscopy using MEMS-based holders
- Strong hands-on experience in TEM sample preparation, FIB preparation for MEMS-chips and conventional sample preparation
- Highly proficient in computational data analysis, preferably using open-source tools
- Experience in project management
- Willingness to write competitive proposals and gain experience in supervision
