The Fritz Haber Institute (FHI) of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science is among the internationally most renowned research institutions. Several PhD positions (M/F/d)
A PhD or PostDoc position
to explore stability and functionality of novel 2D materials using Density Functional Theory and Machine Learning Interatomic Potentials. The position is part of a EU-funded project and carried out within a consortium in close collaboration with international experimental groups. The projects’ overarching goal is the successful synthesis of novel 2D semiconducting and insulating materials and their integration into proof-of-concept devices for nano
The PhD positions are initially limited to three years, PostDoc positions start with an initial one-year contract with the possibility of further extension upon mutual agreement.
**Profile**:

- A Master degree (PhD positions) / a PhD (PostDoc positions) in natural sciences (i.e. Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science) preferably with a specialization in theoretical or solid-state chemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemistry, or energy science.
- Experience in atomistic simulations with e.g. electronic-structure theory codes or interatomic potentials
- High eagerness to learn and master novel computational approaches.
- Experience in programming either with a high-level (e.g. Python) or low-level (Fortran/C++) language is highly desirable.
- Collaborative spirit, teamwork, and excellent English skills.
