Within the Global Clients/North America department, the Engineering Power & Utilities team is responsible for single-risk, direct and corporate construction and operational property power business. We have a sizeable book of business and support central underwriting functions by developing tariffs, new tools, portfolio monitoring and steering. We contribute to the transition of the power sector towards sustainable power systems and see ourselves as a partner to internal and external clients in the dynamic development of this sector.

We are looking for an underwriter to support and strengthen our Power & Utilities team in Munich.

Your job

Underwriting construction and/or operational power generation and transmission risks in accordance with our strategy (including ESG aspects) as well as supporting the global F&C offices:

- Assessing and pricing large and complex power risks
- Analysing risk inspections reports and underwriting reviews in an international environment
- Controlling accumulation risks including natural hazards
- Assuring compliance with Group-wide guidelines
- Conducting negotiations with clients and their brokers
- Developing, maintaining, and expanding client and broker relationships
- Assisting the implementation of portfolio analysis and compiling statistics and reports
- Maintaining and expanding technical know-how
- Developing and enhancing risk assessment and quotation tools and contributing to the further development of our quotation and risk evaluation tools
- Contributing to an inspiring team environment
- Promoting internal and external knowledge transfer

**Profile**:

- University degree in engineering (preferably mechanical or electrical), applied science-related discipline, or a recognised professional qualification in insurance
- Professional experience as an underwriter in direct and/or facultative insurance or practical experience as an engineer (construction or operation of power plants)
- Knowledge of risk assessment and pricing methods as well as competencies in the analysis of wordings/contracts
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills
- Strongly pronounced sales orientation with the ability to build sustainable relationships with clients and brokers
- High degree of responsibility, motivation, decisiveness and initiative
- Excellent social skills, ability to fit in and work in a team
- Analytical skills, capability to be innovative and creative
- Solution-oriented with a focused, proactive, and efficient work style
- Readiness to keep track of developing and new technologies
- Fluent business English is essential; German B2 or better; Spanish is of advantage
- Willingness to travel
