**SECRET**:
A Network Administrator has experience in managing, monitoring and configuring the routine operations and maintenance of computer systems in a variety of different networks to include high volume/high availability systems. Must have experience responding and resolving problems quickly. Must have the skills to implement agency policy regarding computer access and implement firewalls.
**Responsibilities**:
- Performs administration duties for networking hardware including routers, switches, hubs, gateways, access points, network interface cards, networking cables, network bridges, modems, ISDN adapters, firewalls and other related network hardware
- Must have firm grasp and knowledge of fiber and copper-based Ethernet technologies, capabilities and cabling and their connectivity to local and wide area networks
- Monitors and responds to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques
- Installs and configures network hardware and software
- Provides network troubleshooting and support
- Provides technical support and training to end-users
- Administers network security
- Sets up new users and deletes old users from the network
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues with network infrastructure and/or components
**Desirable Skills / Experience**:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network troubleshooting and support
- Comprehensive knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software
**Education Required**:
- Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or Science or Business Administration or Mathematics.
- Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of specialized experience, or
- an Associate’s degree plus seven (7) years of specialized experience, or
- a major certification plus seven (7) years of specialized experience,
- or 11 years of specialized experience.
- Specialized Experience: The following experience may be concurrent:
- Four (4) years of experience maintaining and developing TCP/IP networks (on Ethernet, ATM/SONET and/or wide area transports);
- three (3) years must be in direct experience with U.S. military command and control or commercial LAN/WAN communication systems.
**Certifications**:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); or Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security); or Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist
- DoD 8570.01-M, IA workforce certification: IAT-III Baseline Certification
