Director of German Operations

Wood is currently recruiting for a Director of German Operations to join and lead the renewables business based in Hamburg Germany.

This is an opportunity for an experienced manager to focus on the growth and development of our European renewables business, ensuring future growth plans that cement the success of Wood Renewables within the European market and support with other international developments across the wider team.

This role will also have branch management responsibility for our recently established Taiwan entity and support with growth across the Asian market.

**The Role**

This is a fantastic opportunity for an entrepreneurial manager with a real passion for leadership and business development within the Renewables sector, to lead the German team; driving significant growth across the European market.

**The key objectives for this role are**:

- Direct and guide the growth, development and delivery performance across the European Renewable Energy market, supporting the development of strategy and delivering related business plans
- Work closely with the UK Renewables team to implement and deliver clear synergies across the business offerings within the different Renewables Consultancy sectors
- Accountable for safety, technical and financial performance across Europe, assuming budgetary and P&L responsibility and demonstrating clear safety leadership; achieving monthly and annual targets and embedding company values within the team
- Provide guidance, direction and support to the team in the day-to-day management of delivery, ensuring appropriate controls and governance are in place and ensuring Wood is working to the highest possible standards of integrity, safety, quality and operational excellence
- Produce solutions to complex strategic, contractual, technical, commercial, operational and personnel related challenges which impact on customer service and performance
- Manage ongoing business, responsible for budget setting and delivery, contracts, capacity and resource management, and capability management

We provide value add services bespoke to the clients' requirements across; advisory services, technical specialists, project management, owners engineering through all the phases of the project lifecycle. Our specialisms across the renewables sector include; onshore and offshore wind, green hydrogen, solar, grid, storage and infrastructure. The work that we do for our clients is key to making the energy transition possible.

Our German business is currently made up of a team of 12 with a main focus on providing advisory services, delivering technical due diligence to world-class lenders and investors across the European and international renewable energy markets.

Skills / Qualifications:
**Key Skills, qualifications and experience**
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Scientific discipline, or related technical field within Renewables OR degree qualified in a commercial/business discipline with significant experience in a similar role
- Extensive track record of successful operational and strategic delivery within relevant industry sector
- Broad understanding of the Renewables industry and strong networking and relationship building capability
- Exceptional communicator both verbally and written in English and preferably German (ability to speak other European languages is an advantage)
- Relevant technical or commercial/business management expertise
- Knowledge of current HSSEA and other leg
