Jefferies GmbH is Jefferies’ German subsidiary regulated by BaFin. The entity is relatively new and its operations are growing. Strategically, it is the entity through which Jefferies conducts its business in the EU post-Brexit (directly and through branches of Jefferies GmbH in Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal and Cyprus).
**Position**
The Junior IB Legal will be a member of the Legal Department of Jefferies GmbH and the individual will also work closely with the London Legal department. The Junior IB Legal will report to Jefferies GmbH’s Head of Legal, Germany.
The primary day-to-day responsibility of the Junior IB Legal, with support from the Head of Legal, Germany, is to monitor and support European IB transactions (mainly capital markets and M&A). This entails negotiating engagement letters and transaction agreements with clients, managing external transaction counsel, monitoring transaction execution and enforcing internal policies and procedures. The Junior IB Legal, with support from London-based specialists, will also be involved in local legal sales and trading as well as research matters, and will provide ad hoc legal advice to the IB business.
Finally, the Junior IB Legal will work with London to roll-out training to the IB business and to update Jefferies’ internal policies applicable to IB.
**Person Specification**
- Around 3 years of relevant experience in-house or with a law firm working on capital markets/corporate transactions.
- German qualified lawyer or equivalent
- ECM- capital markets experience
- Fluent in both English and German
- Regulatory experience desirable
