**Reference No.**: 2025/012. This position is available as of April 1st, 2025 or earlier by agreement. The initial 3-year position can be extended for another 3 years after successful evaluation. In principle, this position can be divided into two half-time positions.

The position is available within the Galizia Lab (). We are an interdisciplinary team at the Neurobiology Department () and the Centre for Advanced Study of Collective Behaviour and study the neural basis of olfactory coding and behaviour in insects, notably hygienic behaviour in honeybees. We use calcium imaging, electrophysiology, behavioural experiments, and computational simulations.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop your own research agenda within the framework of the questions laid out in the grant
- Participate in collaborative research projects within and outside the department, in particular within the Excellence Cluster on Collective Behaviour
- Contribute to teaching in Neuroscience (Bachelor and Master level), and supervise undergraduate students
- Preference will be given to research consisting of behavioral experiments to study odor-preference in honeybees, finding new substances involved in hygienic behavior, and studying their neural representations

Your Competencies
- You should hold a Ph.D. and have a background in neurobiology and behaviour of insects, ideally honeybees, and demonstrated with research experience
- Proficiency in a programming language, and in quantitative Biology
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
