Hiring Path Clarification: US Citizens and Eligible Non US Citizens within the local commuting area of (Baumholder). - NOTE: Local commuting area is defined as a radius of 50 miles, ability to commute to work on a daily/as needed basis, ability to relocate at your own expense within 2 weeks of selection, you are a military spouse relocating to this installation within 30 days, or you are an involuntarily separated military member.

**Responsibilities**:
Responsible for the appearance and sanitation of the clinic exterior, reception area and exam rooms in order to maintain general cleanliness (to include cleaning urine, feces and blood), spot cleans as necessary. Ensures adequate supplies, and maintains patient flow for exam rooms. Greets clients, verifies patient identity, and escorts client and patient into an exam room. Positions and restrains animals for examination and treatment.

Verifies patient reason for visit and prepares supplies for veterinarian examination. Obtains thorough patient history, takes records vital signs (to include temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure) into the veterinary treatment record. Collects and prepares diagnostic samples to include venous blood, fecal, urine and skin scrapings. Completes diagnostic testing as instructed by veterinarian or in accordance with established protocols.

May assist veterinarian to provide specialized nursing care; prepare animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery; provide anesthetic monitoring; assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures; expose and develop radiographs (x-rays); advise and educate animal owners; and perform dental prophylaxes.

Prepares and administers vaccinations, oral and topical medications to patients as prescribed by the veterinarian. Prepares and dispenses prescription medication according to veterinarian instructions. Applies knowledge of common topics to assist clients in solving common husbandry problems. Applies knowledge of preventive care, disease prevention, lifestyle risks, and veterinary care to provide individualized wellness counseling to clients. Assist the facility in obtaining local credentialing for surgical, anesthetic, dental, and diagnostic procedures as required by the patient load and manning of the clinic. May provide training to lower level staff.

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
- A one year probationary period may be required
- Satisfactorily complete a physical examination (to include all mandated immunizations to work in a veterinary environment) prior toentrance on duty.
- Must not have an aversion to animals, blood, bodily fluids, animal tissues, strong odors, needles, or sharp instruments.
- Must be able to stand for long periods, restrain animals, kneel, reach, etc.
- Ability to work occasional Saturdays for special events - as needed by management.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

- Determine preventive wellness plan to include required medical treatments and vaccinations requirements based on patient medical history; utilize in-house laboratory equipment to perform diagnostics tests; conduct routine maintenance on in-house laboratory equipment; completes lab request form for reference laboratories; prepares samples for shipment to outside laboratories.
