General Summary
- Solution Architect

Design/ Solution Architects are responsible for the initial stages of large/complex projects by overseeing the gathering of requirements from the client and translating those into Solutions Design Documents for a product and implementation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities/knowledge
- Lead functional design sessions to understand client requirements.
- Identifies opportunities for business process improvements.
- Oversee systems testing to support the Solutions Designs process.
- Responsible for on-going design maintenance.
- Does analysis on all problems encountered during design.
- Has expertise with operational practices of at least one product area (e.g. warehousing, transportation planning) and functional knowledge of other related products.
- Ensures work is complete within specified deadlines and according to priorities set by clients.
- Responsible for developing a functional design that satisfies client requirements and is the primary point of contact for the client during the design phase.
- Activities include mentoring, guiding, and oversight of Jr. Design Leads and Design Leads to ensure quality work and deadlines are met.
- Leads internal design reviews with R&D, Sales, peers, etc. as well as the functional design sessions for extensions to design for functionalities outside of the product design (modifications).
- Ensures development and delivery of a high quality Solutions Design Document.
- Demonstrates an in depth knowledge of design frameworks, patterns, and tools through modifying existing designs or creating new ones and drives improvements and adoption of these frameworks.
- Ability to identify solution needs/gaps by utilizing and influencing all resources available including R&D and Product Management.
- Able to indentify, prioritize, and make recommendations to future base enhancements based on client and industry needs.
- Ability to communicate to the client with confidence, influence design decisions, and present functional design.
- Must possess strong leadership and listening skills.
- Attends open design reviews regularly and reaches out to DL’s to make sure that open design reviews are scheduled across appropriate projects to keep the opportunity available.
- Has a working understanding of the RPM design phase
- Directs contribution to and contributes to the development of design tools and deliverables to extend RPM process capabilities.
- Participates in open forum discussions of design across the company to expand his or her knowledge and contribute to the organizational capacity. Drives participation at all levels.
- Demonstrates the flexibility to fulfill any and all roles of a Design Lead as the project demands

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIED:

- Typically six years in a Design Lead role or comparable experience.
- Must have significant client experience.
