We have an exciting opportunity for a
** Marine Surveyor **to join our team of maritime experts carrying out a wide variety of consultancy work.

**What you will be doing.**:
As our Consultant Marine Surveyor, you will be involved in a wide range of work including but not limited to vessel surveys of all types, accident investigation, expert witness and litigation support, desktop consultancy projects, and risk assessments etc. You could be involved in all or some of the following:

- Condition and Suitability surveys.
- Hull & Machinery surveys.
- Pre-purchase surveys.
- On / Off Hire surveys.
- Industry standard audits (OVID, CMID, etc.)
- Layup & reactivation surveys.
- Investigate casualties and determine the nature, extent, and cause of damage.
- Estimate costs of repairs and subsequently compile reports for clients.

In addition, you would also be required to perform the following tasks:

- Be keen and proactive in developing new business initiatives to promote ABL maritime services.
- Represent ABL at social and industry events to strengthen brand awareness in the local market.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and members of the ABL Group regarding operational and specialist matters.
- Carry out other job-related duties as required.

The role is based in
**German** and
**English** - a high standard of written English is required for reporting purposes.

Flexibility and willingness to travel for assignments at short notice locally and globally for periods of time are required.

**What we are looking for.**:

- Be a qualified Engineer (STCW III/2) COC.
- Be knowledgeable in your field and have experience with vessel dry dockings, machinery damage, and repairs.
- Have strong communication skills and a good command of written and spoken German as well as English.
- Are willing to travel at short notice locally and globally for periods of time.
- Are enthusiastic, proactive team player willing to take part in the growth of the company.
- Have excellent communication skills, being able to develop relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Can work independently as well as part of a team.
- Have a valid EU driving license.

Any of the following is desirable but not essential:

- Served as Chief Engineer.
- Previous consultancy experience.
- Strong professional network in the maritime industry
- Technical Ship Management experience.
- Previous experience working with Marine Insurance and Admiralty Law.
- OVID and/or CMID surveyor qualifications applicable or relevant experience
- Conversant with marine and engineering consultancy to the maritime and offshore markets.
