Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist

**Duties**:

- Prepare patients, exam rooms. and sterile tables for specialized IR procedures.
- Provide assistance to the radiologist as the primary circulator during all cases and also acts as a scrub technologist when needed.
- Clerical duties such as, schedule, triage, receives, and explains procedures to patients.
- Assists in the training in IR principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques, and equipment.
- Operates equipment such as power injector, ultrasound machine. fluoroscopy system, CT machine, and post processing workstations.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- Position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability/periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records in accordance with DHA Administrative Instruction Number 5200.05 dated 12-21-2022.
- This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in accordance with DHA Procedural Instruction number 6000.03 dated 05-06-2021.
- May be required to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays and/or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- May be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
- Position is weather essential. Employee may be required to report to work during periods of inclement weather.
- A pre-appointment physical may be required.
- Employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Assistance is required when lifting over 50 pounds.
- Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75.

Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements:

- (1) Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.
- (2) Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence, as determined by OPM or the employing agency.

**Specialized Experience**: One year of specialized experience which includes performing diagnostic x-ray procedures; assisting with radiographic examinations; and maintaining compliance and confidentiality for radiologic health care services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
