Finanzbuchhalter (Finance Controller)

**Title: Finance Controller**

Reports to: CFO (functional) and Managing Director of the Marburg site

**Summary of position**:
The financial accountant reports directly to the managing director of the Marburg location. He is responsible for all of the company's accounting and ensures that the company's accounting procedures comply with generally accepted accounting principles as well as specific local accounting standards. The financial accountant is also responsible for directing and coordinating the company's financial planning and budget management. The position plays a key role in assisting management in decision-making in all accounting and finance-related matters.

**Responsibilities**:

- Management:

- Supervision of accounting staff as well as all outsourced activities
- Maintain a system of accounting policies and procedures
- Advice and decision-making support for the CFO and the Managing Director
- Liaise with senior management to identify opportunities to improve the Company's financial position: e.g., pricing, cost reduction, cash and working capital management, additional controls and measures to safeguard and protect the Company's assets
- Payment transactions:

- Closing of books in Sage on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Responsible for the proper processing of all types of business transactions, including supplier invoices, invoicing customers, payroll, and cash income and expenses
- Timely payment of invoices and prompt collection of receivables
- Regular reconciliation of bank accounts
- Maintain a chart of accounts that meets the accounting requirements of the company
- Intercompany transactions and reconciliation of payments and receipts
- Maintain an orderly filing system for all paper-based accounting records, including a system for archiving and destroying documents
- Maintain a comprehensive control system for all accounting functions
- Compliance
- Comply with any filing requirements imposed by local or federal authorities
- Compliance with all tax reporting and payment obligations
- Coverage
- Preparation and timely publication of correct annual financial statements
- Participation in the preparation of the company's annual report
- Preparation of various financial reports and analyses for the management
- Providing information required by external auditors for the audit of the company's financial statements and accounting system

**Qualifications**
- **Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter oder **Hochschulabschluss in Rechnungswesen und Finanzen
- Master's degree in accounting and finance preferred
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrate expertise in financial management and accounting principles through certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, including ERP systems, Excel, and financial modeling
- Knowledge of German accounting standards (HGB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Fluent written and oral command of German and English
- Knowledge of the Sage accounting system is an advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and especially Excel
