Cathay Capital is a global platform with investments spreading across Europe, Asia and North America. Founded in 2007, the Group has completed over 230 buyouts, growth and venture capital investments and manages >€5bn of assets in a range of investment strategies and vehicles. Today, more than 130 employees are based in Paris, Munich, Berlin, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Shanghai and Beijing. The Private Equity Team is currently investing from 2 fund vehicles with a combined size of €1bn and targets small - and midsized companies in the Enterprise Software, Healthcare and Consumer industries. The Munich office is responsible for coverage of the DACH region. To support deal sourcing and execution capabilities, we are currently looking for an Investment Associate to strengthen the Private Equity team in the Munich office full-time. Cathay Capital promotes a collegial culture with flat hierarchies and a high degree of individual ownership. You will be given the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in the Paris HQ as well as across our international network and attend conferences and internal meetings across the globe. Tasks **You will become an integral part of the deal team to drive**: - Origination, evaluation and development of deal opportunities within targeted sectors - Due diligence and in-depth supporting analyses to dissect business models, including commercial research, financial modelling and coordination of external partners and advisors - Cathay investment process and committee meetings - Support existing portfolio companies with their strategic agenda and value creation initiatives and participate in board meetings As you progress and hone your skills, we will support your personal development with additional responsibilities and opportunities for growth. **Requirements**: Experience - \+2-3yrs of full-time experience in M&A, Strategy Consulting, Financial Due Diligence or Private Equity - Strong academic background from a leading business school or university - Project work in the technology/enterprise software, consumer or healthcare sectors (with a focus on digital-related topics) - Native in German and written & verbal fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of French is a plus **Skills**: - Excellent modelling experience relating to valuation and/or market sizing - Strong fundamental knowledge of accounting and valuation principles - Track-record of leading workstreams and handling several tasks and projects simultaneously, ideally also in a multi-location and/or cross-functional setting - Demonstrated initial steps to building a small professional network Mindset and personality - Outstanding analytical and critical thinking with fact-driven judgment and attention to detail - Effective and clear communication style and ability to assess, balance and formulate ideas in a structured and transparent manner - Self-starter mentality and high level of initiative, ownership and drive
