**Academic research assistant (M/F/x)**

of employment: 4 years, volume of employment: 65 % of standard working time.

**Workplace/Department**:
The work location will initially be based at MPI-CBG in Dresden on a Saarland University contract; a physical move to

the Saarland University campus will follow at a future date.

**Job requirements and responsibilities**:

- Establish compartmentalized gene circuit networks in micron-sized compartments.
- Perform molecular biology techniques, including cloning,
- Conduct biochemistry experiments, including protein expression and utilization of cell-free expression systems,
- Construct synthetic cellular chassis,
- Characterize and quantify cell-free gene expression,
- Excellent command of the English language.

**Your academic qualifications**:

- Completed scientific university studies in synthetic biology or biology.

- Have experience with molecular biology techniques,
- Have experience with establishing and characterizing gene circuits,
- Have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills,
- Have an ability to use quantitative approaches,
- Have excellent conceptual, writing and presentation skills,
- Have good technical aptitude,
- Work independently and communicate effectively within a team,
- Excellent command of English, German is desirable
