The Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) is a member of the Helmholtz Association (HGF) and funded by federal and state government. - Research supporting employee in HPC-support (M/F/d)
**Background**
**Tasks**
- Support of HPC-users and -projects on local HPC-infrastructures
- Co-operation with HPC-Centres (e.g., JSC and DKRZ)
- Introducing users to new compute systems (e.g. DKRZ)
- Collaboration on in projects fort he pertinent HPC-modes of AWI
- Networking and supporting users
- Documenting
- Performance analysis of Code
- / Workflow-optimizations and Improvements of „perfomance portability“ of Codes
- Planning and conducting user courses
- Prvision of software
- Configuration and monitoring of the HPC-jobsystem
- Contributing to Reporting / Accounting on local HPC-projects
- Contributing in planning and purchase of new HPC-systems, and of HPC-components, respectively
- Base services in cluster management in redundancy with the HPC-administrator
- Networking with other HPC-Centres
**Requirements**:
- Successfully completed course of studies (Master) in the field of physics, mathematics, computer sciences, or comparable
- Knowledge of scientific workflows in HPC and modeling
- Very good team and communication skills
- Good knowledge in german and english language (written and spoken)
- Independent and well-structured mode of work
- Knowledge in the administration of HPC-systems and Job-systems
**Desirable Experience and Knowledge**
- Experience in handling third party funding
- Experience in supporting HPC-users
**Further Information**
The position is permanent and is advertised on a full-time basis. The job is also suitable for part-time employment. The salary will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federation (Tarifvertrag des öffentlichen Dienstes, TVöD Bund), up to salary level **13**. The place of employment will be **Bremerhaven**
