Freiberg, Deutschland Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Vollzeit

The working group 'Recycling and Green Battery' is located in the department 'Mobile Energy Storage Systems and Electrochemistry'. A key focus of the work is the development of innovative processes in the field of battery recycling and process monitoring. To this purpose, for instance, novel approaches in the area of digitalisation, design for recycling and the processing of battery materials are being investigated in order to be able to close material and substance cycles in the production chain of lithium-ion batteries in the future.

**What you will do**

Within the framework of projects already underway, digitalisation solutions for recycling processes are to be developed based on experience in the field of battery cell production. The focus is on the collection and evaluation of online and offline process data. Process information is obtained by modelling specific work steps to determine the mechanisms underlying the relationships between process and properties, and to quantify their influence. A wide range of pilot plant and laboratory equipment is available for this purpose, which is expanded with IKTS's own and commercial measurement technology.

What you will do:

- Development of algorithms and software solutions to correlate measurement data and process data.
- Supporting the validation of new testing technology in the laboratory and pilot plant scale
- Modelling of individual process steps and parameterisation of existing models with acquired data
- Coordination with external project partners, participation in project meetings, presentation and discussion of results
- Responsibility for the processing of research projects
- Identifying scientific questions from the projects, deriving work plans
- Preparing and supporting the acquisition of new projects
- Publication and presentation of scientific results (e.g., at meetings/conferences)
- Supervision of scientific work (bachelor, master and doctoral thesis)

**What you bring to the table**

You have successfully completed your university studies in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science or comparable. Knowledge in the field of equipment technology and data acquisition is an advantage. A doctorate is not a prerequisite.

In addition, the following competences and skills complete your profile:

- Experience in scientific work and with automatic data acquisition and evaluation as well as an affinity for programming.
- Enjoying presentations and discussions in the project team, at scientific events and with customers.
- High motivation for research in this promising and dynamic field as well as for interdisciplinary project work.
- Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken

**What you can expect**

We offer you an exciting and interdisciplinary working environment with responsibility and room for your ideas as well as modern equipment and infrastructure. You are part of a young and dynamic team. There is the possibility of carrying out a doctorate.

In addition, we offer the following benefits to our employees:

- Support in the area of childcare as well as day care centres close to the institute.
- Flexitime
- Individual development and career opportunities
