**Duties**:
- Obtain information from patient and/or family/guardians/caretakers to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care.
- Document patients' chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.
- Take all vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference).
- Assist physicians with various examinations and diagnostic procedures.
- Screen and review immunization records in accordance with regulations and unit Standard Operating Procedures to select required immunizations, correct dosages, and routes of administration.
- Administer oxygen, IV fluid and prescribed oral, rectal, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications.
- Perform both, administrative and logístical task as a member of the healthcare team for the clinic by contributing to maintaining the environment and resources to deliver healthcare.
- Inform and educate patients and/or family regarding self-care procedures.

- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements.
- This position is identified as Mission Essential which may require you to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations (e.g., threat to the facility, natural disaster, delayed reporting).
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Shifts may be rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position requires to wear Personnel Protective Equipment.
- This position may require you to be on-call on a rotational basis, responding to emergency calls at times beyond the normal duty day.
- This position requires moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds.

**Basic Requirement for Practical Nurse (Family Medicine)**:
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below:
**Experience**: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as direct patient care and care coordination activities to include conducting intake interviews for initial assessments, referral management, order reconciliation and activity tracking; assisting other healthcare professionals during medical procedures; and administering medications as directed by a physician.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
