Funds Management Specialist

**Duties**: Provides general ledger accounting, financial management, and banking services for nine United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) Geographically Separated Units (GSU) Non-Appropriated Funds Instrumentalities and exercise authority of the Nonappropriated Funds Accounting Support Center (NASC). This includes a full range of duties using double-entry and accrual accounting to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. Responsibilities include producing required monthly, quarterly and annual NAF financial statements and reports; Ensures timely distribution of reports to installation level activities, managers, and higher headquarters. Responsible for approving monthly deposits, approving accounts payable disbursement requests, and approves general ledger adjusting entries. Verifies source documentation for accuracy and completeness. Analyzes the general ledger to ensure transactions are posted accurately and in the correct lines of accounting and makes adjustments to ensure compliance with standards. Reviews subsidiary files for accuracy, completeness, and any adjustments that need to be made to reconcile aged balances. Develops and reviews production and publishing schedules to ensure accurate and timely receipt of source documentation from activities and efficient processing inside the NASC. Promotes team building, implements quality improvements; establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design, as necessary, to eliminate work problems or barriers related to mission accomplishment or in response to concerns with regulatory compliance and/or customer requirements. Establishes, develops and maintains effective working relationships with each base Force. Ability to understand accounting principles at a level that allows for appropriate review of financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as approving documents. - PREFERRED: Knowledge of Non appropriated Funds accounting to include forms, systems used, internal controls, and procedures. Ability to review policies and standards effectively to discern the proper regulatory guidance when necessary. **Education**: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
