Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
This position is part of the interdisciplinary DFG Research Unit “Big Structural Change” RU BISC. The research unit investigates the changing acceptance of and compliance with societal core institutions (e.g., formal rules and social norms) in the face of climate change, globalization & technological change, and mass migration. The subproject “EU Green Deal” investigates the role of the European Green Deal in shaping domestic institutions in Germany, Poland, and Sweden. Working in the project, you conduct qualitative empirical work in the three countries (mainly expert interviews) and analyse the data in light of neoinstitutional theory and Europeanisation perspectives. The gathered data can be used for your PhD project, if applicable. Furthermore, you assist in academic project management. You participate in the regular meetings and workshops of RU BISC, attend one summer school at least to further develop your methodological skills, and interact with the professor (primary advisor), with the other researchers in RU BISC, other doctoral students and postdocs in the team, and with junior and senior researchers in the department and faculty. Funding is provided for conference travel and summer schools.
**Profile**:
A university degree in a relevant field.
You have a degree in sociology or a neighboring field (political science, socioeconomics, etc.) and at least a basic understanding of and interest in economics (the dominant collaborative discipline in the interdisciplinary Research Unit is microeconomics). You have a solid knowledge of social scientific methods, with experience in qualitative interviewing being an asset. Knowledge of relevant tools, such as MaxQDA, Nvivo, STATA, and/or R is an asset. You are interested in eco-social transformation and/or Europeanisation processes. A good proficiency in English is necessary to work comfortably in the English-speaking environment at RU BISC.

You will be integrated into the team of a professorship that is highly productive in the area of comparative welfare state research, Europeanisation, and eco-social transformation research and provides a broad interdisciplinary and international network. Furthermore, you will be integrated into the interdisciplinary DFG research group consisting of professors and junior researchers in the field of microeconomics, political science, and sociology, who all have a focus on experimental and empirical methods to investigate institutional change.
