As Director HR DACH (M/F/d), you will solve complex organizational challenges with innovative people solutions. You will develop and take ownership of executing people strategies that support Alcon’s mission: “to help people see brilliantly.” You will drive value creation by delivering on Alcon’s foundational principles - customer focus, innovation, and people - to strengthen our people, organization, and culture. This role is based in Aschaffenburg.
You will foster an inclusive work environment and actively champion Alcon’s values and behaviors. By partnering with managers, you will ensure the seamless delivery of core HR services and optimize HR processes to enhance the associate experience, always with a focus on people, organization, and culture.
With your in-depth understanding of top talent, you will coach managers to accelerate talent readiness and leadership development. Collaborating regularly with our Human Resources Centers of Excellence (COEs), you will help shape and implement strategies to attract, hire, develop, and retain world-class talent. You will also execute key programs in compensation, performance, diversity and inclusion, and talent development.
In this role, you will build strong relationships with Alcon leaders and the HR Leadership Team. You will support the COEs in designing global HR initiatives while understanding the region’s unique dynamics, allowing you to proactively address potential challenges alongside managers and leaders.
Leading a team of dedicated HR professionals, you will inspire them to deliver exceptional support to both managers and associates. Through data and metrics, you will advise business leaders, make informed decisions, and ensure thoughtful workforce planning to provide reliable HR solutions for the business.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Overseeing the business functions across multiple sites and countries in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.- Leading, developing, and inspiring a team of HR professionals.- Understanding employment laws and regulations in the region.- Partnering with the HR COEs to support the design and roll out corporate programs- Managing complex multi-location HR projects.- Driving business success by coaching and advising teams on associate experience initiatives, such as Associate Experience Dashboard, Recognition programs, etc.- In partnership with people leaders delivering Alcon’s core HR services and ensuring an optimal associate experience.- Ensuring timely execution of all people-related processes in the region.- Coaching business leaders on all HR-related topics (e.g. change management, talent management and career development, etc.).- Accountable for driving high-quality talent bench, through selection process, equitable compensation practices and adequate talent development.- Supporting diagnostic intervention and problem resolution strategies to contribute HR point of view to business issues.- Responsible for Employee / Labor Relations & Legal Requirements (e.g. Works Councils (as applicable) and partnering with global ER on complex ER matters).
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of years and education of directly related experience.- 10-15 years’ experience in in Human Resources, Business, or related field including demonstrated people leadership.- Strong expertise in labour law and Works Council collaboration.- You have a global perspective and naturally look at challenges from the broadest possible view. You think and communicate in global terms, understanding Alcon's position in the global market and the impact of global trends on the organization.- You possess strong business insight and understand how the business operates and creates value. You stay up to date with current and emerging policies, practices, and market trends—both within Alcon and across the industry. You use this knowledge to guide strategic actions that drive success.- You demonstrate leadership by aligning work with team goals and individual motivators. You empower others, recognize contributions, invite input, and foster shared ownership. You clearly connect people’s work to broader organizational goals, inspiring engagement and performance.- You effectively manage ambiguity, staying calm and productive in uncertain or rapidly changing situations.
