Junior Scientific Officer

**Your Role**:
The position involves the support of development, implementation and management of specific medical and scientific aspects of EASD’s and EFSD’s policies and procedures as well as the support of the liaison with members, collaborators and key stakeholders.

The JSO reports directly to the Managing Director and Assistant Managing Director and works in the Düsseldorf office, supporting staff in the development of specific programmes, products and services, ensuring the scientific quality of these initiatives.

**Your Qualifications and Attributes**:

- PhD (or equivalent) in life sciences, ideally with a relevant background in the area of diabetes
- Fluent spoken and written English, ideally with additional languages
- Knowledge of and experience in clinical and/or basic research
- Familiarity with the pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries, as well as knowledge of the principles of clinical care in non-communicable diseases—particularly in diabetes.
- Familiarity with grant writing, research and fundraising
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Willingness and ability to work closely with colleagues in an interdependent working environment
- Willing to be pro-active in enhancing the EASD and EFSD in its broad aims in the study, understanding and treatment of diabetes

Willingness to travel and work experience in a commercial or non-profit environment are desirable.

**Your Tasks and Duties**:
The tasks and duties could include but are not limited to:

- Support of the EASD Team in
- Preparation of communication materials (website, press releases, etc.)
- Supporting the organisation of educational courses and other education events
- Liaising with contractor regarding content and executing e-Learning
- Support of the EFSD Team in
- Preparation and management of the submission of grant and fellowship proposals
- Support of Programme Committee and the Scientific Programme department regarding the scientific programme and abstract handling for EASD Annual Meetings, incl. participation in Programme Committee Meetings

**Your Working Location**:
The EASD office is located in Düsseldorf, Germany. The entire EASD Team including the Managing Director is working from the office.
