My client, an exciting Fintech allowing their clients to offer more choice or payments options at the checkout are looking to hire a Head of Accounting for Europe

**The Opportunity**:
This is a significant and highly impactful opportunity to join a company that is revolutionising payments platforms.

Acting as a gateway, acquirer, processor, FinOps manager and payment orchestration platform all in one the technology allows customers to launch and manage multiple payment methods from a single interface.

This role will join a strong and dynamic finance team and contribute to delivering a world class accounting function, underpinning core business strategy.

**The Core Role**:
Due to continued growth and a strong market potential there is the need to bring in strong financial expertise along multiple dimensions, paired with strategic thinking, partnership and support across the business. As part of the core EU Finance team, the Head of Accounting for Europe will manage a team that works closely with European senior leadership.

You will be responsible for the integrity of the financial reporting process as well as ensuring the meeting of statutory compliance requirements. This role collaborates with business unit leaders across the company, drives strategic decisions, and directly impacts the future company direction. Working across the business, your role will inform financial insights shared with senior leadership and at board level. As Head of accounting and a critical part of the leadership team, you will excel in executive-level interactions and consultations

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead Accounting, Tax and VAT teams
- Work in effective partnership with EU leadership to drive key business initiatives from an Accounting perspective
- Build and continually enhance the reporting and data insights provided to senior leadership to inform key business decision making
- Manage, develop and inspire a team of experienced accounting professionals and hire key talent as required

**Core Tasks**:

- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with all financial policies
- Manage the timely delivery of all financial reporting and period close
- Manage the annual audit process
- Prepare all required local jurisdiction financial accounts and manage the local GAAP requirements
- Manage EU cash flow requirements and reporting of same to EU leadership
- Work closely with FP&A to drive financial decision making and best practice
- Develop accounting strategy and road map to drive overall organisational goals
- Own and drive process optimisation informed by data-based insights
- Build leadership reporting model

**Required Experience and Skills**:

- CIMA, ACA or ACCA fully qualified
- Significant experience in a senior leadership accounting role in professional services and/or in-house accounting
- Proven experience with a large US multinational and of SOX is highly preferred
- Very high-level analytical skills and ability to work in a data-driven environment
- Exceptional process management skills and the ability to add value via process improvement
- Ideally you will have exposure to Fintech, tech start-up or other rapid growth environments and be very comfortable operating at a high pace and with change and ambiguity

- Strong people leader with the ability to inspire and develop a team
- Fluent German language skills
- Exceptional communication skills and clarity of delivery
- An analytical mindset focused on fact based analysis and critical assessment of data to inform and guide business decision making
- Confident, possessing of senior presence and comfortable with senior level interaction and owning high impact projects
- High energy with a strong drive and ambition
