The Department of Genomic and Applied Microbiology includes the Göttingen Genomics Laboratory, is led by **Prof. Dr. Rolf Daniel**and offers a fully-funded PhD position in animal microbiome-related research.

**Project description**:
**Your profile**:

- **Master's degree**in microbiology, genomics, molecular biology, bioinformatics or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with one or preferably more of the following is desired**:molecular biology**(eg, DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, etc.), **microbiology**(isolation and characterization of microbes), **bioinformatics**(amplicon sequencing/metagenomics).
- Strong interest in microbial communities and responses of these to changing conditions, host-microbe relations, impact of gut community on health.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
