The _Scientis_t_ Viral Vector Production_ is responsible for_ _designing and performing cell culture experiments to produce Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) based gene therapy vectors at competitive titers, quality and with manufacturing scalability in mind.
This position reports to the Head of Viral Vector Production and is part of the Viral Vector Production Team located in Cologne and will be an on-site role. This is a temporary role with a contract for 2 years. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
**What you will do**:
- _ Design_, supervise _and perform cell culture experiments _to produce_ viral vectors according to established and novel protocols in high-throughput screenings, shake flasks and bioreactors (15 ml up to 10 L) within customer_ and res_earch_ projects_
- _ Establish and further _optimize_ existing processes, overall _workflows_ and process documentation as part of internal research and development activities_
- _ Compile and evaluate experimental results and present these as part of either internal or customer meetings_, _on conferences _or_ for _publish_ing_ in peer-reviewed journals_
- _ Support_ team_ _resource_ _planning _and g_uide_ and train technical assistants _in novel workflows if _required_
**Who you are**:
- _ You have completed your M.Sc. or PhD degree in the disciplines of biotechnology, bioprocess engineering or related fields with _longstanding_ years of experience_ in an industrial _and regulated _environment_
- _ You have proven _track record_ and fundamental knowledge of cell culture work (cultivation of mammalian cells, transient transfection_, batch, _fed batch_ and perfusion _cultures_)_, _high-throughput_ screenings _as well as_ _bioreactor handling _at _various scales _(Ambr15, Stirred tank bioreactors)_
- _ You are familiar with typical analytical methods used in molecular biology and protein chemistry, preferably _in the area of_ viral vectors_
- _ You have experience in data evaluation (_e.g._ MS Office Software package, Prism, R) and presentation of experimental results_
- _ You have a hands-on mentality and enjoy working in international and interdisciplinary teams with a constructive and creative mindset_
**Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements**:
- _Ability to travel - _about 10_ % travel_ for external trainings, _customer_ and internal_ tech transfer_ activities as well as_ conference_ visits_
**It would be a plus if you also **possess** **previous** experience in**:
- _ Experience in regulated environments (GLP/GMP) is considered as a plus_
- _ First experience or background in _Adeno-Associated Virus_es_ is considered as plus_
- _ First experience in _supervising teams or technical employees is _considered as plus_
