As a Team Leader - Sales Development you will help coach our successful team of SDRs, while balancing being the first point of contact for our customers, where you will be seeking to understand the customer’s perspective and potential challenges and/or needs, and whether Workpath might be a good fit for them. This will allow you to identify and develop new business opportunities with leading enterprise-sized organisations in a wide variety of industries, and to identify what the appropriate next steps should be. In this role you will not be expected to complete the sale; that is done by other colleagues. Instead, your role will be to understand the customer’s position, ask several questions and to establish what the appropriate next steps should be.
**About the role**:
- This is a player-coach role, but it’s not a ‘stuck in the rut’ job. We will invest in developing you, the same way you will develop our SDRs. In other words this role will either help you get promoted internally, or it will help you find your next role elsewhere. Either way, you will be developed.
- You will partner with the Head of Sales Development to remove blockers, to identify paths to success and forge best practices with your own results, which you will leverage to lead and guide the team.
- This is already a successful team. Your key focus will be to help the team maintain its success by coaching them to navigate complex conversations on their way to identify whether there is a business fit.
- You will own the new starter onboarding process, and ensure new team members are progressing and developing in a timely manner.
- This role does not require you to be responsible for HR matters.
**Your profile**:
- You’re a leader, not a boss. You seek to listen and understand the challenge first, and coach accordingly.
- You’re a hands-on coach and a listener: you don’t give fast, clichéd answers but you invest time in helping others improve.
- You take a 1:1 approach to coaching: you don’t only run “one size fits all” coaching sessions, but you seek to identify the best course of action in any given situation.
- You have 1-2 years of professional experience in enterprise sales (software is a plus) or in business development
- Previous leadership experience is advantageous, but not a prerequisite.
- You are outcome oriented: we won’t measure how many calls you make, but we want you to be open to being coached to help you become even more effective and successful and increase your / our conversion rate
- You are purposeful: you don’t go through the motions or do ‘the next thing on the list, because it’s the next one on the list’, but are thoughtful about what you do to help increase the odds of success
- You are driven: we will train you, we will coach you and we will give you the space to work at your own pace, in return we expect that you don’t just wait for results to materialise, or that you “hope” to get good responses
- You are humble and work well in a team: sometimes you ask to learn from your colleagues, and sometimes your colleagues are learning from you
- You are inquisitive: this role is all about asking questions and understanding the customer’s perspective, situation and identifying if we can match their needs
