Senior Legal Counsel

Make It Matter.You are responsible for the company’s legal activities in a region, business units and /or sub-function areas in the country or across multiple countries. To support commercial and corporate initiatives, you identify business needs and design and implement our legal strategy through the service delivery model. You advise the business on risk, anticipating and addressing internal and external factors and apply your legal specialty area experience to collaborate with other legal colleagues to address legal issues or concerns.How you will contributeLead and take responsibility for the company’s legal activities in Germany and Austria, the relevant business units and /or sub-function areas in Germany and Austria.Identify business needs and design and implement our legal strategy through the service delivery model to support commercial and corporate initiatives.Advise and train the business on risk, anticipating and addressing internal and external factors and apply legal specialty area experience to collaborate with other legal colleagues to address legal issues or concerns.Develop and ensure the implementation of legal strategies to enable Mondelēz to compete aggressively, and protect our people, assets and reputation while complying with legal requirements and standards of ethical conduct.Provide guidance and support to ensure managers are making reasonable and informed decisions regarding legal risks; manage the legal strategy with outside counsel, including spending without compromising financial and reputational risk.Provide in-house and external legal expertise to address the increasingly complex legal environment by partnering with business units, regions and global stakeholders to identify and advise on applicable laws and regulatory changes for a given country and/or across multiple countries.Provide high-quality legal advice on a broad spectrum of areas including corporate governance, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, anti-trust-, cartel-, and competition law, food- and labelling laws and regulations, marketing and advertising, IP protection, data protection and privacy, dispute resolution.Manage relationships with external counsel and law firms, overseeing engagement scope, quality, performance, budget and costs.Champion the integration of legal technology (AI) and process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.Lead, mentor, and develop internal legal teams, fostering a culture of continuous growth, learning, high performance, and ethical standards.Represent the company in negotiations and disputes (litigation) involving regulators, industry bodies, and key stakeholders.Maintain a forward-looking legal outlook and strategy, monitoring regulatory trends and advocating for necessary policy or process adjustments.Collaborate closely with cross-functional and global teams to ensure a harmonized approach to legal risk management and compliance.Provide and perform training and awareness programs for employees and management on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.What you will bringA desire to drive your future and accelerate your career with experience and knowledge in:German Law degree from an accredited university. Fully Qualified Lawyer with 2nd States ExamAdvanced degrees such as LL.M., MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualifications are preferredFluent in German and English, further EU language skills are preferredMinimum 10+ years of progressive legal experience in multinational corporations and/or in commercial law firmsStrong background in commercial (contract) law, competition/antitrust law, regulatory compliance (food- and labelling & advertising law), ESG law, M&A, dispute resolution/litigation, and corporate governanceFamiliarity with FMCG industry regulations, including consumer protection, advertising and labelling, competition and anti-trust, product safety, and environmental & human rights laws (ESG), is highly desirableDemonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence senior management and cross-functional teams.Experience in data privacy and protection and security and IP management is advantageous.Experience in managing and developing legal teams and external counselWhat we offerA varied and exciting job in a successful international companyNumerous opportunities for professional and personal developmentFlexible working hours of 37.5 hours per week for a healthy work-life balanceA variety of additional benefits such as job ticket or Germany ticket, sports allowance, company pension scheme, Sodexo card, etc.Hybrid working model30 days annual leaveWe particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities.
