Senior Hydrometallurgical Engineer

Committed to securing critical raw material independence and regenerating materials, we are developing innovative and sustainable solutions for a cleaner future. ♻️WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORWe are looking for an experienced Senior Hydrometallurgical Engineer (m/f/x) with at least 5 years of experience to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and scaling up hydrometallurgical processes from pilot to industrial scale. You will design both equipment and processes - from the modeling & conceptual design phase to the handover-to-production phase. You will take over a key role during commissioning, start-up and process optimisation phases. This is a great opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced startup environment.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECTDesigning hydrometallurgical processes from concept to start up, including but not limited to:the development of process concepts resulting in block flow diagrams (BFD) and mass as well as energy balancespre-feasibility studies resulting in process flow diagrams (PFD), supported by experiment data and simulationsdetailed engineering resulting in piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) as well as a plant layout validated through experimentspreparation of technical data sheets to support procurement of major chemical equipmentdefinition of technical milestones and deliverables in contract negotiations with partners and supplierspre-commissioning, commissioning and start up planning and execution together with other tech team colleaguescontinuously improving process performanceExperiment planning and execution: Plan and execute experiments both on pilot and industrial scale systems.Simulation: Develop simulations to test assumptions and ensure systems are performing according to required specifications before a physical implementation.Commissioning and fine-tuning: Assist in commissioning and fine-tuning, test equipment both on company as well as supplier sites.Project management: Implement and structure a customized project management approach to achieve technical milestones in time, scope and budget. Organize team efforts.Your profile>5 years of experience as a Process / Production / Industrial Engineer, preferably in a manufacturing, mining or recycling environmentProven hands-on experience in commissioning activities, such as: cold/hot commissioning, Site/Factory Acceptance Tests, start-of-production, handover-to-production and process fine-tuning & optimization.Proficiency in modeling & simulation tools for chemical processes.Experience in operating chemical equipment, pumps, valves, and other industrial systems.Familiarity with engineering project documentation & change management systems (P&ID, Process Flow Diagrams, Block Flow Diagrams, Process safety Assessments).Ideally familiar with standards applicable to the chemical industry (e.g., Pressure Equipment Directive, AtEx Directive, Machine Directive, REACH, Seveso directive, ISO9001, ISO14001).Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.A passion for sustainability and a keen interest in the clean tech and recycling industry.Why us?At tozero, we believe in creating a supportive and dynamic work environment where you can grow, contribute, and make an impact.Fitness Subscription: Prioritize your well-being with a complimentary fitness subscription, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.Education Budget: We encourage continuous learning and development.
