Opdo is reimagining how optical systems are designed and manufactured. By fusing cutting-edge AI with next-generation fabrication technologies, we're building a full-stack platform that automates the design, simulation, and production of optical lenses and systems. We're a small, ambitious team backed by top-tier VCs and groundbreaking IP, still in stealth mode but moving fast. Tasks Your Mission We’re looking for a passionate AI Developer to help build the core intelligence behind our optical design engine. We are building the world’s first AI copilot for optics. To help us, you will work closely with the founders and technical leads to prototype and scale an AI agent that translates user prompts and engineering constraints into manufacturable optical systems. What You’ll Do Design and implement LLM-driven workflows that convert natural language input into optical design parameters Build or integrate simulation tools to evaluate and refine AI-generated designs Develop pipelines to synthesise labeled training data Collaborate with optical engineers and software developers to bridge AI with CAD/modeling environments (e.g., FreeCAD, rayoptics) Help define and evolve the architecture of the Opdo AI platform Requirements Experienced in machine learning or AI development, especially with LLMs and agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Semantic Kernel, OpenAI API) Proficient in Python with a solid engineering mindset and a bias toward rapid prototyping Excited by early-stage environments where you can wear multiple hats and shape core technology Bonus: Background in physics simulations, CAD software, or optics is a strong plus, but not a must Benefits Be part of a bold, VC-backed startup operating at the edge of AI, optics, and advanced manufacturing Help shape both product and company from the ground up Work alongside a highly technical, mission-driven founding team Enjoy flexible hours and a remote-friendly setup, while we don’t enforce strict office policies, we value in-person collaboration and meet regularly in Berlin Send a short note on why this role speaks to you, plus your resume, LinkedIn, or GitHub.
